I became a nurse because I wanted to help people — and over 18 years, that calling has taken me to places most clinicians never see. From correctional facilities where patients are often overlooked by the healthcare system, to private homes where I was the only clinical presence, to hospital units and disaster zones with the American Red Cross — I've delivered care in some of the most demanding and underserved environments in healthcare.
That range of experience gave me something most healthcare writers don't have: a deep, firsthand understanding of the full spectrum of patient experience. I know what it's like to care for a patient with no advocate in the room. I know the urgency of a mass casualty response. I know the quiet complexity of managing a chronic condition at home. And I know how rarely healthcare content reflects any of that reality.
